Trailblazing Pediatrician, Julia Getzelman, M.D. Featured in National Women in Medicine Series

Sep 2, 2019

Julia Getzelman, M.D, is featured in National Women in Medicine Series after being named on the official list of top Women in Medicine as part of a multi-part series published by Thrive Global.

Founder and CEO of GetzWell Personalized Pediatrics, Dr. Julia Getzelman, has been named on the official list of top Women in Medicine as part of a multi-part series published by Thrive Global, the productivity platform with a mission to change the way we work and live. She was recently featured in National Women in Medicine discussing her views on the obesity epidemic and the way her own upbringing has influenced her own application of nutritional science.

Dr. Getzelman is a specialist in pediatrics with a particular interest in the way nutrition and intestinal health contribute to overall wellness in children. As well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stamford, a medical degree from Yale and residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland, Dr. Getzelman has additional training in homeopathy and applied nutritional biochemistry/food as medicine. Her combination of disciplines has led her to a more holistic view of health, which aims to additional training in homeopathy and applied nutritional biochemistry/food as medicine instead of merely suppressing symptoms.

With her ‘food as medicine’ approach, Dr. Getzelman applies science to beliefs that food can cure that have existed for a long time. But while her methods may be unorthodox, they are inspired by years of medical research and cutting edge discoveries. For example, Dr. Getzelman is fascinated by the use of individual genetic data to personalize care through resources like 23andMe.

Being named on the official list of top Women in Medicine is certainly a career highlight for Dr. Getzelman and being able to share her understanding of medicine in the National Women in Medicine series is a real honor. Getzwell pediatrics is continuing to grow and provide expert functional health advice to more and more patients with the hope that they will influence a generation’s good health with their slow medicine approach. Bringing goodness into the world is a major part of Dr. Getzelman’s ambitions and there is still plenty more work and research to be done.
